{"id":1231,"date":"2017-06-21T13:35:07","date_gmt":"2017-06-21T18:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gr8n8tr0n.wordpress.com\/?p=1231"},"modified":"2017-06-21T13:35:07","modified_gmt":"2017-06-21T18:35:07","slug":"whats-new-with-vmware-integrated-openstack-3-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.virtualnate.net\/wordpress\/2017\/06\/21\/whats-new-with-vmware-integrated-openstack-3-1\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s New with VMware Integrated OpenStack 3.1"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"paragraphText parbase section\">\n<div class=\"section-custom \">\n<div class=\"container-fluid\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<p>VMware\u2019s latest OpenStack distribution gives you the new features and enhancements included in the latest Mitaka release, an optimized management control plane architecture, and the ability to leverage existing workloads in your OpenStack cloud.<\/p>\n<p><b>OpenStack Mitaka Support<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"columncontainer section\">\n<div id=\"section272\" class=\"section-custom two-col-container mb-0\">\n<div id=\"columncontainer\" class=\"container-fluid\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-7\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"columncontainer1 parsys\">\n<div class=\"paragraphText parbase section\">\n<div class=\"section-custom \">\n<div class=\"container-fluid\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<p>This release is based on the OpenStack Mitaka release and provides the following new features and enhancements:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Support for the latest versions of VMware products.<\/strong>\u00a0VMware Integrated OpenStack 3.1 supports and is fully compatible with\u00a0VMware vSphere 6.5,\u00a0VMware NSX for vSphere 6.3, and\u00a0VMware NSX-T 1.1.<\/li>\n<li><strong>NSX Policy Support in Neutron.<\/strong> NSX administrators can\u00a0define security policies, shared by the OpenStack cloud admin with cloud\u00a0users. Users can either create their own rules, bounded with the predefined ones that can&#8217;t be overriden, or only use the predefined, depending on the policy set by the OpenStack cloud admin. This feature can also be used by cloud admins to insert third-party\u00a0network services.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New NFV Features. <\/strong>You can now import\u00a0vSphere VMs with NSX network backing into VMware Integrated OpenStack. Another new feature here is the full passthrough support by using VMware DirectPath I\/O.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Seamless update from compact mode to HA mode. <\/strong>If you are updating from\u00a0VMware Integrated OpenStack 3.0 that is deployed in compact mode\u00a0to 3.1, you can seamlessly transition to an HA deployment during the update.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Support for GPU devices.\u00a0<\/strong>OpenStack instances can now be created with GPU passthrough devices which can be used for High Performance Computing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Single Sign-On integration with VMware Identity Manager<\/strong><strong>. <\/strong>You can now streamline authentication for your\u00a0OpenStack deployment by integrating it with\u00a0VMware Identity Manager.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Specify adapter type for empty volumes. <\/strong>It is now possible to change the default adapter type by modifying the <code>vmware_adapter_type<\/code> option for newly created volumes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Profiling\u00a0enhancements. <\/strong>You can also use VMware vRealize Log Insight as the trace store for the OpenStack profiling tool osprofiler.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1247\" src=\"http:\/\/192.168.0.2\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/screen-shot-2017-06-21-at-1-41-18-pm.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2017-06-21 at 1.41.18 PM\" width=\"1220\" height=\"740\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.virtualnate.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/screen-shot-2017-06-21-at-1-41-18-pm.png 1220w, http:\/\/blog.virtualnate.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/screen-shot-2017-06-21-at-1-41-18-pm-300x182.png 300w, http:\/\/blog.virtualnate.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/screen-shot-2017-06-21-at-1-41-18-pm-1024x621.png 1024w, http:\/\/blog.virtualnate.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/screen-shot-2017-06-21-at-1-41-18-pm-768x466.png 768w, http:\/\/blog.virtualnate.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/screen-shot-2017-06-21-at-1-41-18-pm-800x485.png 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1220px) 100vw, 1220px\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-5\">\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<b>Easily Import Existing Workloads<\/b><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraphText parbase section\">\n<div class=\"section-custom \">\n<div class=\"container-fluid\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<p>Customers can now quickly leverage their existing vSphere workloads and start managing them via standard OpenStack APIs. The ability to directly import vSphere VMs into OpenStack and run critical Day 2 operations against them via OpenStack enables you to quickly move your environment to an OpenStack Framework.<\/p>\n<p><b>Compact Management Control Plane<\/b><br \/>\nBuilding on enhancements from previous releases, this feature is focused on organizations looking to evaluate OpenStack or to build a small OpenStack cloud for branch locations quickly and cost effectively.
